Integrated Audio Player You can add audio to almost any page inside and outside of your member area. VMS has a built in audio player that launches your mp3 audio files for you. It integrates with Amazon S3 so that you can choose to store your files onsite or on the S3 service.

Protected Link System

Your download, audio, and video files automatically use a protected link system that hides your true file location from the browser and end users. You don't have to worry about anyone finding your download folder with the VMS integrated protected link system. The protected links even work in the member area, if you use the protected link system inside the member area then only logged in members can access the content.

Quick Drop Media And File Placement

You can drop audio, video, or download files almost anywhere you want using simple media tokens. You can set up the tokens in the admin area and choose your own token names for everything. Simply create a media file entry in the admin area then drop the token where you want the media to appear on your pages. Using the #~tokenhere~# style of tokens allows you to drop practically any kind of media pretty much anywhere you want with just a single token and have it fully protected by the Protected Link System.

Unlimited Custom Content Pages

You can create an unlimited number of custom pages and have them displayed in different areas of your site. You can choose to show the pages to the site root visitors (meaning pages in the root directory and not in the member area) or to differently levels of members in the member area. You can limit access to your pages to all members, free members, paid members, all affiliates, all jv partners, or only members who have access to a specific product. The site root content pages can even be added to the rss feed with just enabling one switch on the content page setup.

Built In Blog

VMS has a blog built directly into the system. You can create unlimted blog posts for your site without the need to patch in an outside blog platform. The built in blog will organize posts by month and display recent posts. Each post can be added to the sites RSS feed individually, so you can control what goes on your feed. Each post can enable or disable comments as well. You can allow your visitors to post comments on your posts. Comments also have options to enable or disable the display of visitors site links as well as to make those links follow or no follow links. You can even choose how many posts to show on the main blog page, or even make the blog your sites default index page.

Admin Text Ad System

You can enter an unlimited number of text ads and have them displayed on your blog or in the member area. The ads will rotate three random text ads across the top and/or bottom of your pages if you enable the text ad system.

Follow Up Autoresponder Built In

Each product can have it's own built in follow up emails that are send out from the system. You can choose the timing by setting how many days after the last email was sent before you send the next one. This is a built in system for those who do not use the 3rd party autoresponder system.

Third Party Autoresponder Integration

VMS will integrate with virtually any autoresponder service. You simple enter a modified form for your autoresponderservice and enable the 3rd party autoresponder integration for your product or signup form. Each product and each signup form can have a different autoresponder set up so you can seperate your lists into different levels if you want.

What Do You Do for a Living?

It’s a fact of life that most people just will not understand what people who make a living online really do. Some people will instantly consider you a spammer because they thing that is the only way anyone can make any money online. Others may believe you just promote porn and other types of adult sites because they really believe that’s all most people use the internet for.

If you make your living selling products or services online, be prepared to deal with this type of people. Even your close friends and your own family may give you weird looks when you try to explain what you do for a living. These people will have a hard time understanding how you make your money so you need to be patient with them and carefully explain what you do.

Probably the biggest hurdle will be explaining that you are not spamming everyone. Try to explain that spammers are not business people and really make up a very, very small minority of people trying to make money online. You also might need to find a creative way to describe your actual job you do online. Simply saying “I sell stuff online” can lead to the wrong opinion but possibly saying “I manage web sites that provide information on several topics and make money from ads that are placed on my sites” might give a better idea of what you really do.

If you use any kind of email marketing make sure to explain that everyone who receives your emails has specifically signed up through a form to receive email from you, and had to click a confirmation link before they received any email from you. Almost everyone knows what email spam is so you need to clearly define what you do and make it very clear that you never send email to anyone who hasn’t given you prior permission to email them.

You might try to explain it saying that your newsletter is like having a newspaper delivered to their front yard. You only get the newspaper if you have specifically asked to receive it, and if you ask to stop receiving it then the newspaper deliver stops. You provide people with valuable information that they want and have asked for.

If your business is selling eBooks then you might say you are a book publisher and all your books are formatted for digital delivery. You don’t have to worry about paying a lot of money for printing, binding, marketing, or shipping of a print book so you can offer your books at a lower price and give your customers a better value for their money. You also are not using paper so you are not placing an even larger burden on an already strained and ever decreasing supply of trees.

If you sell any kind of software or web scripts you could say you are a software company. You either create or purchase software and allow people to buy and download this software from your own web sites. You eliminate all the same things that eBooks  eliminate by providing your software online. Your customers get instant access without having to pay extra for packaging.

There are many ways you can describe your business that most people can understand which can put your business in a good light without having to deal with peoples misguided views of online marketing. However you describe your business make sure you are patient and calmly and carefully work through any wrong impressions people have about online business. This can go a long ways toward improving the overall perception of what we do and what we don’t do.

Key Features To Look For In A Good Membership Site Script

When you first start looking at setting up your first membership sites there can be tons of questions you might have. Planning your site out ahead of time can save you from several headaches, as well as save you time and money over the long term. Having at least a mental map of what features you want to offer, how you want your site layout to look, and what features you might want in the future can reduce or eliminate many potential pitfalls which could place roadblocks in the way of your sites success.

One of the first things you should look at is member registration. The method your members must use to sign up to your site can be very important. Make sure you use an automated system that gives members instant access at the time of signup. If someone has to wait hours for you to wake up and process their sign up and activate their account then they will most likely just go somewhere else.

Being able to instantly enjoy the benefits of your site will help your members feel good about their decision to join your site and will make them more willing to stick with you instead of going somewhere else. As an extension of the automated process is having an automated payment process as well. You want your members to be able to pay instantly and still get instant access after payment.

Make sure that your system sends each member an email on sign up with a welcome message as well as information about their account and login information. Make sure your email gives a link back to the member area login so it is easy for customers to find. Also, once your members reach your log in page make certain that you have a link to an automated lost password feature clearly visible. Your members should not have to search your site just to find how to access the member area if they lose their password.

If you offer affiliate commissions make sure members can clearly see the affiliate link and  commission percentage for each product you pay commissions on. Some membership scripts make this hard to find so make sure the system you use puts this very important information in a place that is quick and easy to find. There should also be links to affiliate tools displayed for members as well. Your members will be more likely to promote for you if you offer them pre designed affiliate banners and email messages.

Template design options are a feature many scripts completely overlook. Make sure that the membership script you use allows for total customization of all pages inside and outside of the member area. A quality script will allow you to customize every web page that the script generates. Many programmers have a tendency to mix their php code with the html code. This may work well but doe not allow for much customization. Make sure you use a system that has the html separated from the background coding. This allows you to completely control how the site looks without having to deal with complex code.
